Hannah Amalie Nielsen
Hannah Amalie Nielsen’s artistic practice is built around a visual world created out of shapes and colours arranged to compose a narrative pictorial universe. She works performatively with characters, costumes and props that she creates herself, assigning them specific roles in different contexts. The work of the hand is the starting point for most of Nielsen’s works as she strives to subvert traditional hierarchies between craft, design and art. Nielsen draws inspiration from mythologies, folk art and 70s glam rock, mixing up these influences to form a distinctive artistic idiom.
Hannah Amalie Nielsen is part of Socle du Monde’s Open Call, Danish Open.
