Jane Maria Petersen

Jane Maria Petersen

Jane Maria Petersen works with several media, including drawing, embroidery, sculpture, installation, fine-art prints and video. Her exhibits at Herning Højskole comprise embroidery, ceramics and prints.

Jane’s imagery often incorporates references to movies, aliens, Greek and Roman mythology, nature and archaeology, intertwined with her own personal biography. Jane takes a non-linear approach to time, subject matter and narrative, unfolding several narrative tracks simultaneously. Jane’s thematic world unfolds in a series of narratives that often revolve around the enigmatic and the poetic. Typically, the works incorporate traces of their own creation, as is the case with the expressive marks left by kneading in the ceramic works, the handiwork evident in the embroidery and the presence of handwritten characters in her etchings.

Jane Maria Petersen is part of Socle du Monde’s Open Call, Danish Open.
