Kristian Touborg
Bathed in blue light, he sees the morning dew slowly evaporating, revealing the outline of stiff synthetic cloth draped heavily over a reclining electric scooter. A greengrocer dressed in a puffer jacket empties a graffiti-scrubbed and half-melted plastic container of tulips. Short sequences follow in steady succession in an unedited montage. Recorded, shared and played in perpetual loops. In his work, Kristian seeks to abolish linear time, which impedes him from being present in all the places he wants to be. He uses his practice as a place of anchorage so that he is not swallowed up. Slowly and patiently, his figurative paintings have grown large, morphing into abstract sculptures rising quietly from walls and floors.
