Marianne Skaarup Jakobsen

 

Marianne Skaarup Jakobsen is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Malmö and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Her sculptural practice and studies are essentially a material exploration of the linguistic aspects and architectural potentials of abstract sculpture. Her work has been shown at various galleries and museums in Europe – including the SixtyEight Art Institute in Copenhagen, the Geological Museum in Lisbon, Huset for Kunst og Design in Holstebro and Galleri Riis in Stockholm. Her many residencies include programmes at HANGAR in Lisbon, the Danish Institute in Athens and the European Ceramic Work Center in the Netherlands. At the moment her engagements include a long-running collaboration with RSS Press and the Lisbon-based researcher Maša Tomšič on a publication. The work created for the biennial was made with support from the Danish Art Workshops.
