Open Call – Danish Open
Ideas about community and encounters with art are central to the concept underpinning the Socle du Monde Biennale and with title Danish Open invites all of Denmark to contribute to the biennial, highlighting important topics through the diversity of art. A wide range of different art forms are on display here: visitors will be able to explore sound art, video art, embroidery, installation art, painting and sculpture. The objective of Danish Open is to act as an ‘incubator’ offering ample opportunities for developing and experimenting with various artistic forms and practices – not too far from the same kind of freedom which artists at the Angli factory were given for their development of the incredible works of the 1960s. Scene 7 is presented indoors on the ground floor of Herning Højskole’s building, including the lecture hall and the distinctive hexagonal theatre. Other selected works are shown outdoors at Deep Forest Artland. This new format is unique to Stage 7 and truly encompasses everything that this year’s Socle du Monde biennale’s title, Welcome My Friends to the Show that Never Ends, represents; this year we are celebrating friendships and collaborations.
