Tijs Visser

Tijs Visser

Tijs Visser (born 1958) initially pursued architecture, but his interest in art led him to organize exhibitions during his studies. He gained prominence for curating the “Artempo” exhibition at the Palazzo Fortuny, featuring collections from the City of Venice and Axel Vervoordt. Following his tenure as Head of Exhibitions at the Düsseldorfer Kunstpalast, he established the ZERO foundation. Over the years, he has served as a curator or co-curator for Biennales in Moscow, Venice, and Herning. Notably, he curated a significant retrospective of Yayoi Kusama at the Stedelijk Museum in the Netherlands last year. Currently, he is working on an historical exhibition highlighting the Klein family, revealing the significant influence his artist parents had on Yves Klein, a fact previously unknown. But at the ‘Socle de Monde Art Festival’ opening this year in Herning (DK), he showcases art spanning from the past, present, and future.
