Højhuset kulturhotel
Experiences in 60s architecture, design and art.
Højhuset Kulturhotel is an experience in itself if you are interested in 60s architecture, design and art.
In the space of a former textile folk high school, you can stay in the old student rooms, which now
stands ultra-sharp as newly renovated hotel rooms in an urban and minimalistic style.
As a guest at Højhuset, you don’t just get a standard hotel experience. Culture and art are
omnipresent in Højhuset, and you will experience exciting art by Paul Gadegaard, Sergei
Sviatschenko and Nathan Coley, among others. The interior of the hotel has a strict design
aesthetic, with furniture by Arne Jakobsen, Børge Mogensen mixed with original interiors that pay
tribute to the hotel’s past as a folk high school.
The newly renovated hotel, which was listed in 2018 for its unique architectural qualities, also
houses a farm with greenhouses, kitchen gardens and a sheep herd. From here, crisp vegetables
are delivered to the restaurant, which uses a farm-to-table concept to create tasty dishes that are
served share food-style at the red long tables in the building’s dining room.
In addition to being a hotel, farm, restaurant and course location, Højhuset Kulturhotel is also a
community centre that offers its guests a versatile cultural programme. Communal dining,
conversation salons, opera festivals and rosé bingo are just some of the many activities that can be
found in the hotel’s event programme.
Højhuset expands the concepts of what classic hotel management is, and with values such as
community, architecture, history, art and culture, guests get a different experience in the small high
house on the heath.
